Bonding

Dental Bonding
Bonding is a cosmetic dental treatment that uses a composite resin to reshape a tooth. It is applied directly to the surface of the tooth after the dentist has slightly etched it. Dental bonding is often performed to repair small chips in teeth or to change the appearance of teeth. Bonding can also be used to close gaps in teeth.
Steps In Dental Bonding

CHOOSING A SHADE
During your dental bonding consultation, your dentist will evaluate your smile to determine what shade would work best for you. Your dentist will choose a composite resin shade that will blend in with your natural teeth.

PREPARING YOUR TOOTH
The dentist will then clean your tooth and dry it. Next, the dentist will roughen your tooth and will apply a conditioning liquid to allow the bonding material to stick to the teeth.

APPLYING THE COMPOSITE RESIN MATERIAL
The dentist will carefully select and apply the bonding resin material to your tooth. The material will be sculpted and smoothed to blend in with your surrounding tooth enamel.

CURING THE MATERIAL
After your dentist has applied the composite resin material to your tooth, he or she will use a curing light to harden the material and bond it to the surface of your tooth.

POLISHING YOUR TOOTH
Once your dentist is satisfied with the appearance of your tooth, they’ll polish it to give it a natural shine. Polishing the tooth also removes any excess resin material from the surface. Your dentist may also apply a fluoride treatment to your tooth to help strengthen its structure.
Advantages Of Dental Bonding
Need minimal preparation
Dental bonding is a simple, non-invasive procedure that requires little to no preparation. Unlike crowns or veneers, bonding preserves most of your natural tooth structure. The composite resin is applied directly to the tooth, shaped, and hardened without the need for extensive enamel removal. Since no drilling or anesthesia is typically required, the treatment is comfortable and quick, making it an excellent option for minor cosmetic enhancements.
